Farewell!

Gone to wait at the Rainbow Bridge are some of our favourites:

Birdie - Ir Ch Sweetmount Songbird - our first wire, and behind every Lesandnic there is - the matriarch! A reserve best of Sex winner in the days before Reserve CCs were invented.

Fred - L Fred Fantastic - sadly killed on the road, Lesley's first dog of her own. He had just won 2 RCCs in close succession behind the breed record holder, Ch Krystona Augustus, and had several Green Stars and group placings in Ireland.

Ben - L Solo - Andrea's first dog, a multiple GS winner with IKC group placings.

Shanty - L Sea Shanty - Fred's sister and like Birdie, all our wires trace back to Shanty

Seamus - Ir Ch Watermans Sunny Jim- our first CC winner, and the dog with the best ribbing, and the best movement we have ever had. He had an undescended testicle which is why he was not bred from, so his show career is all the more remarkable - and well remembered!

William - Ir Ch Watermans Wild William - swimmer extraordinaire - and one of the best characters ever.

Lottie - Ch L Lottabottle - our first UK ch - died whelping her first litter. Very close to her Irish title, with several Hound group placings in Ireland.

Gladys - L Seasider - BOB at Crufts 1987, mother of our first UK Ch, and a great character

Harriet - L Seaquel - tragically died whelping, her litter was fostered by Flora and produced the JW and Breed Club BIS winning L Searies, and Ch L Seaczar. She was a multiple Ch show winner herself, with a stud book qualification.

Charlie - L Limerick - Andrea's dog - described by Simon as human - and this son of Gladys with a perfect coat was probably very close to it. One of the bounciest characters around.

Simon - L Seaswell - a cracking red dog with a lovely temperament who sadly lost his coat with age. He was confused in the ring with Seamus, so rarely got his just deserts, but he won Ch. BPIB awards and qualified for the stud book - he sired several CC winners and is in the pedigree of several champions - and famously, at the age of 11, sired Ch L In The Groove!

Ruari - Flora's son, Irish Ch L In the Mood.

Flora - Ch & UK Ch Lieblings In Uproar - what a star - 5CCs, her first won at her first Ch Show, BOB at Crufts in 1992, SKC Hound Puppy Group Winner in 1989, and the mother of a super litter, she also was a KC Good Citizen.

Ivy - Ch L In The Groove - a beautiful bitch who disliked the show-ring but loved to go out. A great favourite, a massive character, and boy could she snore.

Violet - L Lochsong - a CC winner and possibly the best bitch bred here, died tragically early at 2 yrs old from kidney failure. Ivy's daughter, and litter sister to Lucyrowe, Jane Naylor and Bettie Farrand's multi CC winner.

Polly - L Legacy - one-eyed, following an accident when fostered at birth (she was Lottie's daughter), she was a great character and mother of Ch Logic, plus many other Ch show first prizewinners, and a stud book entrant herself.

Herbie - a Polly son, the sole survivor from a litter struck by Parvo, a GS winner and another great red character

Ernest - Ch L Snojoke - one of life's gentlemen, a wonderful "little red dog" who never did anything wrong, and graced our presence for almost 16 years

Anna - Ch L Logic - a lovely brindle girl who could retrieve a bunch of keys, Ernest's first daughter

Norman - L Logical, a CC winner, a grumpy old man, and the last of the Lottie/Polly/Anna line.

Millie - CRONKBOURNE TWILL, a Ch show winner who was Andrea's pride and joy. Possibly more spoilt than Hattie, she was a daughter of Joy Walford's Ch Lesandnic Salsabil, by Ch Metewand Tatu, and a half sister to Mollie and Bunty.

Katie  - DRAKESLEAT THAT's SHALLOT -  demon ball player - fetched till she dropped if you did not stop her - a real live wire at home, who could always think of better things to do than show!

Twiglet - LESANDNIC EMBLEMATIC CW-08 - Bombproof with a capital B - Hattie bowled her over at Christmas and at 10 weeks of age she just got up, nipped Hattie on the nose and went on doing what she was doing before - so naturally, Hattie didn't bother her again. A little demon, Smudge's daughter by Ch Verrami Burn Toffring Drakesleat loved everyone - she had a smashing head, topline and temperament, and a good coat, and moved like a rocket- she was just beginning to make her mark in the ring when time caught up with her. Born with a heart defect, we knew we would not be able to breed from her but were expecting her to have a normal, if slightly sedate, life. Sadly, just after 18 months of age, her heart could not cope, and we had to say goodbye to probably the best miniature we have owned.
